Welcome to the February 2021 Newsletter. I hope this finds you all well and happy. A big welcome to our new families and our returning families. We are so happy to have you here at Puss in Boots Early Childhood Learning Centre. Thank you for the opportunity to care and educate your children. We are settling new children and assisting the children transitioning rooms into their new routines. Be aware, it’s very normal for some tears for new children and even for our returning children. We will work on building relationships with all children and families to ensure our children “settle” and are happy in their rooms.
I wish to thank our families for working in partnership with us to ensure the health of our children by keeping them home when they are unwell. The virus that is spreading quickly around Brisbane is quite nasty and seems to be impacting many. My educators will continue to engage in regular handwashing with children and ensure that cleaning requirements are documented and completed more frequently than usual. This includes regularly cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
My staff are enjoying their change of rooms and are busy programming amazing and authentic learning activities for all children. Please remember your family input assists the educators to build their curriculum around the children’s interests, needs, strengths and family life.
Please remember to dress your children in comfortable and appropriate clothing during this hot weather. Also please ensure children wear enclosed shoes or sandals that have a back strap. Slip on shoes and thongs without a strap are dangerous, particularly in the playground, and are not acceptable footwear at Puss in Boots.
If you choose to send in additional snacks for your children, can you please ensure snacks are healthy and do not contain nuts. Please check all labels. If an item has a label that says “may contain traces of nuts” please do not send it in. If you need help with ideas please chat to the staff in your child’s room.
That’s all for now. If you have any concerns please call into the office to see me and I will do my best to help you.
‘Til next time.

What’s happening at Puss in Boots…
What a wonderful start to the year we’ve had in our Morningside nursery.
The babies are familiarising themselves with their new environment and new educators. We are spending a lot of time bonding with the babies to form that special trusting relationship during playtime, meal-times, bottle feeding and many more.
We have enjoyed water play, balloon play, playing with manipulative toys, playing with musical instruments, exploring the outdoor and indoor spaces and most of all we have enjoyed bubbles.
The older babies are demonstrating their gross motor abilities by walking around the room while our younger babies are strengthening their gross motor abilities during tummy time and while being encouraged to crawl.
Over the last few months, we have celebrated special milestones with Yousif and Mia turning ‘1’.
The other babies joined in with the celebrations.
We are also building that special rapport with our families, something which is so important, especially when establishing the baby’s needs, routines and interests.
Thank you to our families for being so open to our communication so we can provide consistency of care and trust.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to communicate these with us.
Thank you, Miss Chris, Miss Ellie, Miss Miss Emma & Miss Anna
Welcome to our February 2021 Newsletter.
It has been a great start to the new year, with all the new toddlers settling in really well. The toddlers have already shown some of their independence; by tucking their chairs in, putting plates in the wash and handing each other their water bottles.
We have started putting up family photos to display in the room so the children can get to know who’s in each other’s families; please keep bringing in family photos, as the toddlers love exploring each other’s families. Some of the toddlers have demonstrated their verbal communication, as they say “mum” and “dad” when they’re collected.
We have started off the year with a lot of singing and reading of books, to encourage the children’s language development. During our meal-times, we have been encouraging the toddlers to say “ta” when receiving their food. The toddlers enjoyed their first cooking experience; they cooked mini pizzas for their lunch. The toddlers got to help spread the pizza sauce, and sprinkle cheese and ham on top of their pizzas, but the best part for the toddlers was eating their pizza.
So far the toddlers have shown an interest in the various blocks that we have in the room and playing with the different animals, and making the noises of each of the animals that they know.
Thank you, Miss Renee, Miss Ryan & Miss Ella
Junior Kindergarten 1
Hello Junior Kindergarten 1 Families!
I would like to give a huge welcome to all our new children that have transitioned from the Toddler room! All the children have settled into the room nicely and are having a ball in their new environment. I would also like to welcome Jazmin, Rohan, Alex, Eva and Max who have recently just joined the Puss in Boots family!
We had a very exciting first week in Junior Kindy 1, celebrating Australia Day with a variety of Aussie activities. This involved the children taste testing Australian food, playing ball games, painting and dressing up with Australia day tattoos.
The children have adapted to the changes and routine of their new room really well, following all the steps in the day. This includes lining up patiently, cleaning up after themselves and sitting quietly during group times etc. We are very proud of how clever our Junior Kindy 1 children are!
In the past two months the children have been enjoying a lot of outdoor play, making the most of our new playground space and grass. This has also helped enhance the children’s physical skills; noticing a big change already! We have also introduced the children to bike riding in the playground; an extension of Joshua’s family input!
We have celebrated a variety of important dates over the past month, including Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, crazy hair day and multiple birthdays. This consisted of the children participating in arts and craft activities and celebrating with lots of cake!
The Junior Kindy 1 children got involved in their first cooking class of the year this month. With the assistance from Miss Jess, the children made their own mini pizzas. They had the option of a variety of toppings, resulting in them loving the pizza they made!
Just a friendly reminder, could you all please make sure the children’s lunchboxes and containers are labelled with their full name, so we are able to clean them and make sure they return back to the right bag. Also, there is a communication book on top of the lockers, available for everyone to use. If you ever miss the Junior Kindy 1 educators in the morning, feel free to write a message in the book regarding your child! This book is checked daily. Lastly, we would appreciate it if you would be able to fill out the family input sheet after your busy weekends, so we can extend on it here with your children. Please return these forms to your educators on arrival in the morning!
Well it has been a very exciting first month in Junior Kindergarten 1 and it’s only going to get better over the upcoming year! We have got plenty of fun activities and adventures planned out already for our children this year. We are looking forward to the year ahead with our Junior Kindergarten 1 family and are excited to smash some milestones along the way!!
Until next time.
Thank you, Miss Jess, Miss Satoko & Miss Elle
Junior Kindergarten 2
We have started the new year with flowing energy and everyone is looking forward to an exciting adventure ahead, including the educators, as we now have Miss Linda as our new group leader and Miss Leanne as assistant. We are very happy to be working alongside each other, we will deliver the best knowledge and care we can to the children.
We would like to welcome our new children and families to Puss In Boots Morningside Child Care Centre – Kaira, Benjamin, Otto and Sophia. They have settled into their new environment extremely well, adapting to our routine and structure effortlessly.
The children who have transitioned from Junior Kindergarten 1 have done exceptionally well, exploring and learning in their new room.
We have already implemented many art and craft activities, the children really enjoy taking part, expressing their imagination, getting creative and having fun getting messy. We will display all artwork in the Junior Kindergarten 2 room.
We had Crazy Hair Day this month, it brought lots of laughter to the day. The children made big efforts to make their hair look crazy. It also allowed Miss Leanne and Miss Linda to release their inner child while participating.
We made pizzas for our cooking day, this is a good way to get the children involved and learn about different food we eat. They tasted the ingredients as we prepared the food for the pizza. There were mixed reactions when trying the food, allowing the children to learn what they like and don’t like.
Cheeky Monkey visited last Wednesday and the children absolutely go crazy and are excited to watch the show. It was good to see the children get involved taking part in the dancing and singing.
We took advantage of the nice cool weather by sleeping and eating outside. The children were ecstatic when they heard the news of sleeping outside, looking up at the sky, clouds, the tree, leaves and feeling the cool breeze while going to sleep. We will be implementing this throughout the year.
We have been busy and we will continue to have a busy fun packed year ahead.
Thank you to the families who contribute to their family input and thank you for the lovely family pictures.
If you have any queries don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you, Miss Linda & Miss Leanne
We would like to send a warm welcome to all our new Kindergarten 2 families for 2021. We are looking forward to building positive and rewarding partnerships with you all and aim to provide the best care and education for your little ones.
We are busy forming friendships through play and learning. We would like to welcome our new children – Kai Sh, Kai Sm, Jackson, Zoe, Ava and Arie.
In our room we like to start the day with a good morning greeting. Educators and children acknowledge our land and elders by saying a little poem:
Hello land (touch the ground)
Hello sky (wave to the sky)
Hello me (hug yourself)
Hello friends (wave to friends)
We are also learning the song ‘I AM AUSTRALIAN’ . During morning mat time we enjoy learning the days of the week and discuss the weather. After that we promote a sense of belonging in the room by encouraging the children to put their photo on the ABORIGINAL FLAG .
On Mondays and Tuesdays Miss Tricia joins us to read to the children and sing. Miss Tricia enjoys asking the children questions about the stories and songs and often asks the children to repeat some of the words from the stories. This assists the children to further develop their language skills and learn the meaning of words.
We are spending a lot of the day outside at the moment. The children are enjoying the new outside area and are having some great adventures, playing games and using their imagination. They are testing their physical capabilities, taking risks and growing in confidence every day. We have been having our lunch outside and sleeping under the trees in the fresh air.
All our extracurricular activities have commenced – Tennis (Tuesdays), Billys Buddies (Wednesdays), PhysiKids (Thursdays). If you would like your child to attend any of these lessons please contact office staff to arrange. Cheeky Monkey Club (one Wednesday every month), Konnichiwa Kids Japanese Lessons (Thursdays) and Fun-Key Yoga (Fridays) have also commenced. We will also be participating in a monthly cooking experience. If you have any favourite recipes to share with us please send them in and I will incorporate them into the cooking program. Crazy hair day was also a big hit with many children displaying some creative and imaginative designs.
Thank you for the family input (weekend sheets & emails) that you all provide to us. This information helps us to develop an exciting and meaningful curriculum for your children that is based on your child’s individual interests.
As we sign off for this newsletter we would like to acknowledge how much fun and good times we are having with your wonderful children and are looking forward to the year ahead.
Thank you, Miss Dora, Miss Tricia & Miss Andrea
Here we are at the start of another year and would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new and returning families to our Morningside Preschool.
You would have all received your Information Packs by now which contains items of interest and our Kindergarten paperwork for those of you who have children in our Morningside Kindergarten Program. If this could be returned as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated as the information helps us know your child better and to set some learning goals for the year.
This term is all about getting to know one another and beginning to develop those all important self help skills and routines which are such an essential part of school preparation.
A big thanks for the Show and Tells and Family Inputs that have been coming in already. These are an essential part in the development of an interesting and varied curriculum and makes for some lovely viewing on our Wall for families to share. Also please don’t be shy in contributing to our Strength Trees. This is open to all our families with Educators. Our Family Photo Board is also coming along well. So please send along your Family Photos. This is always a lovely source of conversation amongst the children and Educators.
That’s all for now. Once again from everyone in Preschool a big welcome back and we look forward to another great year of learning through play.
Thank you, Miss Tracy, Miss Nicole and Mr Jack
